When I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation. —Psalm 71:18

On a recent flight, I got ready to do some work. Spread out on my tray were my laptop computer, backup hard drive, iPod, and other gadgets that are part of being a 21st-century “road warrior.” As I worked, a young man seated beside me asked if he could make a comment. He told me how inspirational it was for him, a young man, to see someone my age so enthusiastically embracing modern technology. In spite of his intention to compliment me, I suddenly felt about 120 years old. What did he mean by “someone my age?”? I wondered. After all, I was “only” 57.
Then I remembered Psalm 71, the psalm for folks “my age” and beyond. It reminds us of the value of a life well lived and of the worth of lessons learned: Lessons are not just for our benefit but also for us to pass along to the next generations. The psalmist wrote, “When I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come” (v.18).
So, maybe being “someone my age” isn’t such a bad gig. It is the privilege of “veteran” Christ-followers to declare the strength and power of God to the younger generations. That’s how we can truly be inspirational to them. —Bill Crowder
The older saints who trust God’s Word
Have trod where younger ones now walk;
They’ve fought the battles they will fight—
Their wisdom teaches truth and right. —Branon
The best gift for the younger generation is a good example from the older generation.

K, I'm not so old yet.. But i am and will be getting there.. Definitely a good reminder to all who are growing up, if you are discipling or mentoring someone, hey, please pray that you'll be a good example.
I am honestly always scared I will stumble younger ones, i do. So if i did, please tell me, of course i will cry and apologize, thats for sure, but please tell me.
Thank God that one of my best bud told me, we're humans, bound to make mistakes, but it's up to the discipler or mentor to have the initiative to apologize.
Ahh.. So much to learn..
Continuing on from the last lesson of John Macarthur, lesson 5 was on obedience, prayer and proclaiming God's Word.
Again, the master key to Spiritual Growth is giving glory to God. And how we continue to do that?
7) By Obedience
- Is having a spirit of obedience. A lot of people obeyed on the outside, but in their hearts, they are still defiant..
8) Prayer John 14:13
- God answers prayers, asked in the name of Christ, align with the will of God, in order that God's name be glorified.
- How to know God's will, it's all written in the bible. God's will will happen, even if you dont pray. Praying let you be part of it. When the prayer is answered, you can be part of the praise team! And God is again glorified.
9) Proclaiming the Word 2 Thess 3:1
Gal 1:23, 24 and Acts 13:48
We cant grow without food, so must do it daily. More glory is given to God when you give more than you feed.
The Word has to intergrate into your life.
10) By bringing others to Him
2 Cor 4:15
Remember, our goal of growth is to mature into Christlikeness.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH............. Difficult.. Definitely need God's help =) so glad He's my Dad.. La la la la
